My son had encephalitis in March 2018. In 2019, I was looking for a school for my son to continue his study. After many rejections, I knew about Realfun through a parent support group for special kids. To my surprise, Mr Teo accepted Zhou in the Tynker coding class since July 2019, with one main purpose in mind, to stimulate his brain.
Since then, Zhou has progressed from learning basic programming/coding to now designing and coding his personalised games.
Many parents may think games are a waste of time. From what I observe, game design and coding teach Zhou how to plan the story, the flow and the possibilities of various scenarios. Also, coding needs clear and precise logic thinking.
Realfun has many knowledgeable and professional teachers. Mr Teo, despite his packed schedule, always personally coaches Zhou in coding. He always starts with the basic knowledge required for each class and let Zhou explore by adding further enhancements. Then only he will explain why certain logic doesn't work and how to rectify it. Mr Teo commented Zhou's project as 'interesting', so I think we are definitely meeting the goal of stimulating Zhou's brain by coming up with 'Zhou's style' kind of ideas.
Besides brain stimulation, Zhou also gets to do physio and speech therapy by attending Realfun coding class. He climbs the stairs, sits up for 1.5 hours, communicates with his lecturer, which he needs to put in great effort to accomplish.
I am deeply grateful that Mr Teo gave Zhou a chance which might change his life, when everyone else closed their doors. With Mr Teo's encouragement, patience and top-notch knowledge, I hope Zhou will have a chance to go far like any other child.
